Design Story

The composition is strictly centred: a horned, snarling guardian head anchored by a heavy ring knocker that repeats the disc silhouette in miniature. Everything is tonal — smoked browns, aged metal greys, plank lines running vertical behind the relief — so the two red gem eyes and the matching cabochon accents read as the only colour statement. Supporting details are kept to the outer field: a keyhole escutcheon, a hanging chain, dried maple leaves, faint cobweb and a curl of smoke. Negative space in the wood grain lets the raised-looking carving breathe.

Display & Styling

On a round wood sign the circular border does the framing work for you, pushing the eye straight to the central mask. Wall-mounted with the rope cord visible, it hangs like a shield — strong enough for a front door or porch styling, disciplined enough for a gallery wall of darker pieces.
